'Henhouse' is a little oil on board study painted during the spring. This little area in the garden is where we keep half a dozen hens and there is a collection of old hen houses which they love to scratch around. There is chicken wire and beech hedge separating the chicken run from the field beyond but because it was early spring the beech hedge was still brown and a bit bare.

This painting of hens in the snow was completed last winter. These are some of my own hens who love scratching around in the snow. I also loved the shadows being cast by the low winter sun.
