Pastoral is a large painting of cattle on the farm here on a hazy summers evening. This is probably one of the largest paintings I have produced and took several weeks to complete in the studio. Fortunately the cows often graze in the field alongside my studio so I was able to refer back to them when I needed to. The key to this painting was the interesting light and the composition of the cattle. It very much reminds me of bringing the cows in for milking, giving it a sense of nostalgia.
