Ponies fair day is one of the last remaining painting I have from a series I did a number of years ago of  paintings of Irish horse fairs, mainly those local to me which we Rosscarbery and Dunmanway. Horse fairs were a traditional selling place for livestock but in the last 10 -15 years the small ones have all but disappeared. I am glad I painted them when I did as there are very few horses and ponies to be seen at the local fairs now.
