Old Road, Heir Island was painted after a day sketching on the Island which I do each summer. Heir Island is an inhabited Island in Roaring Water Bay which can be reach by a very shirt ferry journey from Cunnamore Pier. The beach featured in this painting is very popular in the summer as it is easy to access from the water in small boats which come on day trips from Baltimore. The hill in the distance is Lough Hyne
